We have recently moved to Colchester and the Balkerne Gate is just a short drive from us. We have visited the restaurant on several occasions and have never had cause to complain. The staff are always friendly and the food is excellent. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Balkerne Gate to anyone and will definitely continue to go there!

went to balkerne gate daughter took us there for my birthday had a nice meal and all the staaff were very good . The only thing is fail to mention the 2 meals for 6 95 and son in law thought it was only mon to fri but notice on the way out it said mon to sat and we did eat at the rignt time so i think u have to ask for your self other wise satisfied.

Wanted to book a table for five persons, but was told I would have to book a table for six and say that one did not turn up! Arrived at the restaurant at 11.45 pm had to wait outside with an 84 year old disabled pensioner in the cold They refused to let him sit down in the restaurant even at 11.55 pm the lady in the restaurant was rude. Would have gone elswhere if it wasnt for the elderly person. Wont bother eating there again!
